Position Overview:
Freestone Property Group seeks an experienced and dynamic Director of Marketing to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that will significantly enhance Freestone's brand appeal to prospective and current residents, drive leasing efforts for properties managed by Freestone, and elevate the user experience of our direct leasing channels. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the New York City real estate market. The ideal candidate will be adept at both traditional and digital marketing, with a proven ability to create and implement campaigns that effectively communicate the unique benefits of living in a Freestone-managed property and the overall quality of the properties we manage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement overarching marketing strategies for Freestone Property Group to achieve property leasing goals, enhance resident acquisition and retention, and elevate the Freestone brand in the residential market.
- Lead all aspects of marketing for Freestone Property Group, including digital (SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, online advertising, website management), content creation (blog posts, articles, social media updates, email newsletters, website copy, compelling storytelling materials), brand management, public relations, and event marketing.
- Manage the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for the leasing function, including developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting on data-driven insights to continuously improve leasing operations; familiarity with Yardi's CRM IQ is a plus.
- Oversee the creation and execution of property-specific marketing plans for new developments, lease-ups, and stabilized communities managed by Freestone Property Group.
- Manage and optimize Freestone Property Group’s online presence and that of its client properties across various platforms, including company and property websites, Internet Listing Services (ILS) such as StreetEasy, Apartments.com and Zillow, and social media channels.
- Spearhead initiatives to reduce reliance on third-party Internet Listing Services (ILS) by significantly enhancing the Freestone Property Group website's functionality, user experience, and SEO to drive direct leasing inquiries.
- Develop and manage the marketing budget for Freestone Property Group and provide guidance on marketing budgets for client properties, ensuring effective allocation of resources and tracking ROI on marketing campaigns.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and demographic analysis to identify market trends and target resident audiences to inform marketing strategies for Freestone Property Group and its managed properties.
- Collaborate closely with Freestone Property Group’s leadership and property management teams to align marketing efforts with leasing targets and operational excellence.
- Lead and mentor both internal teammates working on marketing initiatives and manage relationships with external marketing agencies, consultants, and vendors, as needed.
- Track, analyze, and report on marketing campaign performance, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies and improve outcomes for Freestone Property Group and its managed properties.
- Develop and implement strategies for reputation management for Freestone Property Group and its client properties, including monitoring and responding to online reviews.
- Represent Freestone Property Group at industry events and conferences to enhance brand visibility among potential residents and partners focused on residential experiences.
- Ensure all marketing materials and communications consistently reflect the Freestone brand identity and messaging, emphasizing quality and resident satisfaction across all client properties.
- Develop and implement crisis communication strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Real Estate, or a related field.
- An MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive marketing experience, with a significant focus on the real estate industry, preferably in multifamily housing and property management, with a strong emphasis on driving direct leasing results.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive results in leasing, resident acquisition, and brand growth targeted at consumers.
- Strong understanding of the New York City real estate market, with specific knowledge of the Brooklyn multifamily sector being highly desirable.
- Expertise in digital marketing tools and platforms, including SEO/SEM, social media marketing, email marketing, content marketing, ILS platforms, CRM systems, and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Demonstrable experience in website optimization and strategies to increase direct-to-consumer engagement and conversion.
- Experience with real estate marketing platforms such as Apartments.com, Zillow, and property management software (e.g., Yardi, OneSite, MRI) is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and external vendor relationships.
- Creative thinker with a strong aesthetic sensibility and the ability to develop compelling marketing content that appeals to renters.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with leasing processes is essential.
